Vehicle collected from customer’s chosen address and taken to MES Cranleigh to investigate, diagnose and resolve rumbling noise reported by customer whilst vehicle was in motion. Vehicle test driven and then put on ramp to carry out full inspection of suspension, steering and drive system. Customer advised that the rumbling noise was caused by a worn off side front wheel bearing and that further investigation had revealed that the front and rear anti-roll bar bushes were worn, the front lower and rear upper suspension arm bushes were worn and that the vehicle was overdue renewal of the timing belt, including tensioners and guides. On further investigation it was also found that the auxiliary drive belt tensioner had also collapsed, and would require renewal. Customer was provided with an estimate of costs for the work required to renew the front lower suspension arms, rear upper suspension arm, front and rear anti-roll bar bushes and the timing belt, tensioners and guides, front off side wheel bearing and the auxiliary drive belt tensioner. Estimate accepted and all work authorised by the customer and completed. The rear suspension arm top bolts (both sides) were seized and required cutting out to remove. During the renewal of the timing belt it was noted that the water pump was leaking, customer was advised and renewal was authorised. The vehicle had a full 4×4 wheel alignment check and was all set-up correctly to prevent future premature tyre wear. Vehicle road tested, washed and returned to customers home address. |
